It is essential to create, daily, a time and space to find the sacred in life. Coming back to the self in a ritual way allows us to remember and reveal a deeper truth and helps us to reaffirm our commitment to bettering our lives.
What motivates you to teach?
Being able to inspire people and give them practical tools to work with to make their lives better is fulfilling. I feel rewarded when I know I have helped someone feel good.
How would you describe your class style?
A balance of yin and yang elements in deliberate combination of flowing and held movements designed to provide a subtle yet deeply challenging practice that taps into true nature of power. I strive to weave meditation in with the physical practices to demonstrate the rich tapestry that is truly yoga.
In 3 words or less how would your friends describe you.
Spiritual, honest and unconventional
Who inspires you and why?
Many people, BKS Iyengar, Bernie Sanders, Baba Singh, my husband and John Oliver. I love how John Oliver tells it like it is, cleverly outlining the ridiculous state of the world and makes us laugh using comedy to stand up to corruption.
What makes you smile?
Thinking about the relationship I have with my husband. I am truly blessed to have someone on this journey with me who shares my spiritual values.
Tell us something quirky about yourself.
I love the quality of randomness. I think there is a certain rhythm the universe follows that seems random, but yet is perfect and without coincidence.
If someone asked you for random piece of advice, what would you say?
Learn to move into your centre. When you find true equanimity, nothing can disturb you.
Favourite place on earth?
A small bay on a remote southern Thai island, Had Thien, Koh Phagnan, where the right blend of spiritual, fun, grounded and interesting people live in community and make magic.
